Mugga Wara was relocated from Civic to the National Capital Private Hospital in 1998. Although Mugga Wara is located in the National Capital Private Hospital, it is operated by gastrotrACT with gastrotrACT staff under its own private hospital licence.

Being located in a private hospital provides the opportunity to carry out procedures on in-patients of the hospital and to undertake more invasive therapeutic procedures that might require the patient’s admission to hospital for post-procedure care. These procedures include:

• Band ligation of oesophageal varices;

• Placement of stents in the oesophagus, duodenum and colon;

• Placement of Percutaneous Endoscopic Gastrostomy (PEG) tubes.
